The New York State Department of Labor requires SEAP participants to complete 20 hours of entrepreneurial training. Our 20-hour online course is built for exactly that, taught live by credentialed instructors, for $150.
To complete the program, New York SEAP participants need 20 hours of entrepreneurial training and two face-to-face meetings with a business counselor.
You must receive written SEAP approval from the New York State Department of Labor before you start or operate your business. Questions about eligibility go to the NYSDOL Special Programs Unit at 518-485-1597.

We train self-employment assistance participants in Washington, New York, and Oregon. Each state runs its own program, so choose yours for the rules that apply to you.

The NYSDOL says you do not need to be a New York resident to take part. You must be eligible for New York unemployment benefits, and your business must have its principal location in New York State.
New York SEAP also requires two face-to-face meetings with a business counselor, and the Department of Labor does not provide counselors. Ask us whether our one-on-one sessions can help, and confirm with NYSDOL what counts.
